Most of the links below are to subscription databases that are available only to HSU students, faculty, and staff. Database computers do not recognize your computer as a member of the HSU computer community if they request a user name and/or password from you. If you have a current HSU ID and library bar code, you may click on the links below, enter your bar code number and access the databases.

This set of databases provides information in a variety of academic disciplines. It has articles that are full text or full image from thousands of periodicals. It covers general academic topics, business, health, religion, sociology and many other areas of study.

This is a group of over 60 databases covering everything from art to technology. Specialized databases to note are WilsonSelectPlus (full text), the MLA bibliography, ERIC, PsychINFO, Basic BIOSIS, and many others.

New databases take a look! This set of databases covers a gamut of research needs. The databases offered cover the topics of literature, Sanborn Maps, newspapers, electronic books, and a wide variety of useful tools for research.
Go to Lexis-Nexis Databases Lexis Nexis
This database has the Academic Universe and the Government Periodicals Universe. Its primary focus is on news, business, legal, health and government information. Much of what is here is full text.
Go to Ideal Database Ideal
This database contains all 175 Academic Press journals. Abstracts and tables of contents are available and full text articles are delivered in PDF format, requires Adobe Acrobat software.

This electronic encyclopedia set includes the Encyclopedia Americana, the Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, the New Book of Knowledge, and the Nueva Enciclopedia Cumbre en Linea.
Go to Specialized Databases Specialized Databases
The library has subscriptions to a number of specialized databases in specific areas of study. They include the AP Photo Archive, BioOne, the Philosopher’s Index, the CCH Internet Tax Research Network, Original Sources, and the Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO). There is also the Encyclopedia Britannica online.
