Graduate Student's Library Guide

What’s in the Library for GRADUATE STUDENTS?

See the library web page from the university’s home page: www.hsutx.edu. The library staff have listed hours, library guides, links to other academic Internet sites as well as style manuals and other resources. Your university ID is your library card and can be used at the libraries of the Abilene Library Consortium (ALC) which include HSU, Abilene Christian University, McMurry University, Howard Payne University and the Abilene Public Library.

Remote login to the periodical databases is through a proxy server. Your library barcode number is used for access; it has 13-digits and is on the back of your university ID. Some features in the ALC catalog require your ID number and pin number. The pin number for the library is the last four digits of your Social Security number.

The library’s voice mail phone index is 670-1236. However, if the library is open, library circulation staff will always answer 670-1578; for reference assistance call 671-2151. HSU library’s Interlibrary Loan office will borrow materials from other libraries worldwide, if local materials are not sufficient for your research. Also, the libraries run a weekday courier to each ALC location. We also participate in a statewide courier service to 150 Texas libraries. If you need to personally visit Texas libraries outside Abilene, talk to the Circulation Supervisor about getting a TEXSHARE card.
